Cinematography has its own genre-genre structure. Unlike other forms of art, the birth date of cinematography can be named absolutely precisely - December 28, 1895. It was on this day in Paris that the brothers O. and L. Lumiere demonstrated their first film program, which contained short documentary sketches: "The exit of workers from factories", "Arrival of the train", etc. The films of the Lumière brothers started the trend towards creating documentary cinema, because in all their pictures a certain immediacy of real reality was recorded.

This fate did not escape actors: yes, John Wayne, Ridley Scott were associated with westerns, Edward Robinson - with gangster films, John Crawford and Barbara Stanwyck - with melodramas, Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi - with horror films, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone - with action films, Jim Carrey, Leslie Nilsson - with comedies. The most popular cinematographic genre is detective: showing crimes, their investigation and identification of the guilty. During the years of its independence, Ukraine continued to be under pressure from Russia and its language. Let's watch the famous Ukrainian series: "Matchmakers", "Sniffer", "Female Doctor". Our editors conducted a survey in which 100 respondents of different ages and genders took part. According to the results, 75% of the respondents claim that they mostly do not watch Ukrainian cinema and have a neutral attitude towards it, although their further answers let us understand that they still watch Ukrainian cinema without identifying it with Ukraine. When asked to mention Ukrainian film works, 40% of respondents could not give an answer. Among the 60% of respondents who were able to remember Ukrainian cinema, the following films were most often mentioned: "Squat32" (2019, romantic drama), "Mykyta Kozhumyak" (2016, cartoon), "Devoted" (2020, historical drama), "Mad Wedding" (2018, comedy), "I, You, He, She" (2018, comedy).
