Film festivals Today, the Ukrainian film industry is at the stage of its heyday and is reaching the level of popularity. This is confirmed by the large number of events that support and promote Ukrainian cinema. An example of one of these events is the "Modern Ukrainian Cinema" festival, which took place on the territory of the Mykhailo Hrushevsky Odesa Regional Scientific Library. Everyone who wanted to could watch modern Ukrainian cinema for free, which was presented at international film festivals: "Home" (2019, drama), "My thoughts are quiet" (2019, tragicomedy), "Myth" (2017, documentary), "Cool 1918" ( 2018, historical), "The city in which money does not circulate" (2018, fantasy).

The essay devoted to the history of animated cinema belongs to O. Shupyk, the author of numerous articles and books about Ukrainian animation. Having chosen the historical-theoretical aspect of presenting the material, the author singles out the main periods of formation and development of domestic animation. Skurativskyi, considering the film process of the totalitarian era, resorts to convincing generalizations, searching for certain regularities according to which the cinematography of that era existed and developed. Analyzing the cinematographic works of the 1920s, S. Trimbach traces film processes in the context of national culture, highlighting the personality of O. Dovzhenko in a "close-up", emphasizing how fateful the appearance of this artist was for Ukrainian cinema.

The viewer wanted to watch movies more than ever. This unexpected, at first glance, situation was explained quite simply. Along with exquisite elitist paintings by J. Ford (1895-1974) "The Grapes of Wrath", "Young Mr. Lincoln", W. Wyler (1902-1981) "The Dead Corner", "The Foxes", O. Wells (1915-1985) " Citizen Kane", which admired for its innovation in the field of drama, in the system of expressive means, stunned with its psychological depth and social significance, commercial genres are becoming widespread: gangster films, horror films, melodramas, musicals, westerns, etc. So, American cinema of the 1930s performed a certain compensatory function, distracting the viewer from life's problems.

Recently, it has become an important means of mass communication, without which it is impossible to imagine today's life. Television has its own genre structure, which it constantly develops and improves. That is why television is considered an integral factor in the cultural process today and occupies a special place in the life of a modern person.
