In 1911, in the suburb of Katerynoslav (modern Dnipro), director and cameraman Danylo Sakhnenko shot the first feature film of national production - "Zaporizka Sich". Bo Willimon — an American playwright and screenwriter (screenwriter of "House of Cards") — has already voiced his desire to shoot a documentary about the crimes and genocide committed by the Rashists in the Ukrainian town of Bucha. According to the Buchansk City Council, the screenwriter is already collecting materials while in Ukraine.

Another vivid example is the film festival "Open Night", which for the 24th year in a row opens new Ukrainian names in the field of cinematography and television production. "We. For us. About myself" is the motto of the festival, which carries fundamental for today theses regarding Ukrainian-language cinema. The main goal of the festival is to support national cinema, joint and foreign films that preserve the traditions of Ukrainian cinematography.
